University teaches us everything, why not how to express ourselves? 🤔
During our student years, we read tons of books, memorize formulas, learn the definition of terms. That is, we solve the "hard skills" (technical knowledge) side of the work somehow.
But what happens when you step into real business life?
When we enter the interview room, we forget everything we know. We cannot present ourselves and our projects properly. When we have an idea, we find it difficult to explain it to the team, because at university we were taught to listen to the teacher who talks for hours, not how to speak in front of an audience.
No matter how educated you are in any field, if you:
• If you have poor communication skills,
• If you can't work under stress and problem solve,
• If you don't have confidence in yourself and can't say no,
unfortunately, those highly trusted diplomas and high grades are not enough to make us stand out.
Companies are no longer just "you know what?" he doesn't ask, "how do you carry yourself, how do you get along with the team?" he looks. But our education system still completely forgets this issue of Soft Skills and leaves everything to the student.
Do you think that universities should definitely have classes like "Effective Communication", "Presentation Skills" or "Emotional Intelligence"? Or is it something that comes from within a person and cannot be taught by a university?
